Access to Aquaponics has been online since 2009. Long dormant, now rebuilt as a practical builder’s magazine for backyard aquaponics: build guides with real BOMs, fish-species profiles with water-parameter tables, gear reviews that show the DIY alternative, and a paid illustrated guidebook.
Our story
The domain launched in 2009 as a landing page for the original Access to Personal Agriculture PDF. It ran quietly through the early aquaponics boom, then sat dormant for a decade. Rebuilt in 2026 for the current generation of backyard builders, who deserve better than content-farm listicles and commercial kit marketing.
How we build and test
Every build guide is built. Real photos of the actual system, verified BOMs with dated prices, cycling logs, and honest notes on what went wrong at week three. Every kit review is assembled from the manufacturer’s box, cycled for at least four weeks, and run for at least twelve. Every fish-species profile is checked against state DNR regulations before publish.
How we make money
Three revenue streams, all disclosed. Amazon Associates commissions on BOM items and gear reviews (we earn a small fee at no cost to you). Direct sales of the $29 Guidebook. Occasional sponsored reviews, which are labelled as sponsored and separated from editorial best-of roundups. Sponsored content still carries an honest verdict; we reserve the right to publish a negative sponsored review, and we have. See our affiliate policy.
